Course intro · 90 seconds

Watch the construction course in 90 seconds.

A short animated walkthrough of what your team will learn, who teaches it, and why it’s pitched at owners and directors who actually have to sign the strategy off.

Hit play and the course intro tells you the rest in less time than it takes to make a coffee.

01 / Why this course

Construction is where embodied carbon is decided.

The built environment is responsible for around 40% of global emissions, and embodied carbon — locked in by every design and procurement decision — is now the focus of regulator, client and investor attention.

Industry leadership like the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (with Jane Anderson and others) sets out the embodied-carbon agenda. Peer-reviewed analysis like MDPI’s research on ESG practices and carbon performance shows where the levers are. The UK’s Net Zero Strategy and 78% target by 2035 turns those levers into hard deliverables.

This course gives construction teams embodied-carbon literacy, sustainable-materials and methods fluency, and ESG and reporting tools for tomorrow’s tenders.

02 / Curriculum

Three modules. From climate science to low-carbon delivery.

Self-paced · Worksheets included · CPD-accredited certification

M.01

Climate Change & Construction

Why construction sits at the centre of net-zero — operational vs. embodied carbon, regulation, client pressure and physical risk.

M.02

Sustainable Practice on Site

Lower-carbon materials, modern methods of construction, site energy, waste, water and supplier engagement.

M.03

ESG, Reporting & Net Zero Delivery

Tender expectations, embodied-carbon assessment, ESG performance, supplier roadmaps and credible reporting.

03 / Learning outcomes

Six things your construction team can do by the end.

OUT.01

Explain climate change & its impact on construction

Articulate the science, regulation and client expectations now reshaping the industry.

OUT.02

Identify the project's embodied carbon

Quantify materials, transport and waste-related embodied carbon — and rank reduction options.

OUT.03

Choose lower-carbon materials & methods

Specify alternatives in concrete, steel, timber, insulation and finishes — with informed trade-offs.

OUT.04

Cut site energy, water and waste

Implement on-site reductions in plant, lighting, accommodation and waste streams.

OUT.05

Engage suppliers and sub-contractors

Build supplier roadmaps and tender criteria that move tier-1 and tier-2 providers.

OUT.06

Report ESG performance to clients

Deliver embodied-carbon, ESG and net-zero data that hold up in public-sector and private tenders.
