01 / Why this course

Transport is the UK's biggest emitter. By far.

Surface transport is now the single largest source of UK emissions, and logistics operators are at the centre of every credible reduction pathway. Customers, councils and lenders are now scoring fleets directly on carbon.

Industry analysis like ERM’s 10 Sustainability Trends Shaping the Logistics Industry sets out exactly where the sector is heading. The UK’s wider trajectory is laid out in the House of Commons Library research on Government policy on net zero by 2050 — including transport-specific milestones.

This course gives logistics teams fleet-decarbonisation literacyalternative-fuel and electrification fluency, and practical reduction levers for the operations they already run.

02 / Curriculum

Three modules. From climate basics to fleet decarbonisation.

Self-paced · Worksheets included · CPD-accredited certification

M.01

Climate Change & Transport

Why transport sits where it does — fuel, road freight, last-mile, customer pressure and physical risk.

M.02

Sustainable Practice in Logistics

Route optimisation, driver behaviour, load efficiency, depot operations, packaging and modal shift.

M.03

Fleet Decarbonisation & Alternative Fuels

EVs, hydrogen, HVO, biomethane — what’s plausible when, charging and refuelling, total-cost-of-ownership.

03 / Learning outcomes

Six things your logistics team can do by the end.

OUT.01

Explain climate change & its impact on transport

Articulate the science, regulation and customer expectations now reshaping logistics.

OUT.02

Identify your fleet's environmental footprint

Quantify CO2, NOx and particulate emissions across vehicles, routes and depots.

OUT.03

Cut fuel use through operational levers

Apply route optimisation, driver coaching, load consolidation and modal shift to reduce miles and litres.

OUT.04

Plan a credible fleet transition

Compare BEV, FCEV, HVO and biomethane on cost, range, infrastructure and carbon.

OUT.05

Decarbonise depots and yards

Implement on-site renewables, EV charging infrastructure and electrified yard equipment.

OUT.06

Report sustainability to customers credibly

Deliver the data your retail, manufacturing and 3PL customers are now requesting in tenders.
