01 / Why this course

Sport is in the climate spotlight. And it has unmatched reach.

From cancelled fixtures to flooded grounds, climate impacts are now showing up on the sports calendar itself. At the same time, governing bodies, sponsors and broadcasters are scoring sport organisations on credible action.

Industry analysis like Green.org’s review of the Paris 2024 Olympics and the future of green sport shows what credible action looks like at the highest level. The UK’s Sport England Environmental Sustainability Strategy sets out funded expectations for clubs and facilities the rest of the system is now aligning to.

This course gives sport teams practical climate fluency, venue and event-level reduction levers and credible fan-engagement tools.
